Data Protection & Privacy

Privacy Policy

Effective Date: January 1, 2026 • Last updated: August 2026

1 Commitment to Privacy

At RideLink Nigeria ("we", "us", "our"), your privacy is paramount. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, store, process, and protect your personal information when you access or use the RideLink Progressive Web App (PWA), platform, and related transportation dispatch services in Nigeria.

We comply with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) and the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR).

2 Information We Collect

We collect several categories of information to provide safe and efficient ride connections:

  • Personal Identifiers: Name, phone number, email address, profile photo, and role selection (passenger/driver).
  • Driver Verification Documents: National identification, Driver’s License, vehicle registration, roadworthiness certificates, and vehicle photos (drivers only).
  • Precise Location Data: Continuous GPS coordinates from both drivers (while online) and passengers (from trip request through trip completion) to enable real-time routing, ETA calculations, navigation, and dispatch.
  • Transaction & Payment Data: In-app wallet balances, top-up receipts, and transaction references processed via PCI-DSS compliant payment partners (e.g. Paystack). We never store raw credit card numbers or banking PINs.
  • Safety & Emergency Contacts: Name and phone number of your chosen emergency SOS contact.

3 How We Use Your Information

  • To match passengers with nearby drivers in Benue State and nationwide.
  • To calculate accurate route distances, travel durations, and transparent fare prices (NGN).
  • To verify driver legitimacy, prevent platform fraud, and protect passenger safety.
  • To transmit real-time alerts to emergency contacts and state dispatchers when an SOS is triggered.
  • To send critical trip notifications, OTP verification codes, and receipt summaries.

4 Geolocation & Background Tracking

RideLink requires location access permissions on your mobile device or browser to function. Drivers transmit location updates while on active duty or during a trip to allow passengers and the platform dispatch system to track arrivals. You can disable location permissions in your device settings at any time; however, ride-booking features will become unavailable.

5 Data Storage & Third Parties

We do not sell your personal data. We only share information with trusted infrastructure providers:

  • Supabase: For encrypted database storage, authentication, and secure realtime synchronization.
  • Paystack / Financial Gateways: For processing online wallet funding and automated driver payouts.
  • Emergency & Law Enforcement Authorities: Solely where required by Nigerian law or during an active in-trip emergency.

6 Your Data Rights

Under Nigerian data protection legislation, you possess the right to:

  • Access and request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete profile records.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated personal data, subject to legal record-keeping retention requirements.
  • Withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time.

7 Security & Data Retention

We implement industry-standard HTTPS encryption, strict database Row Level Security (RLS) policies, and role-based access controls to safeguard your data. We retain trip and transaction logs for as long as necessary to comply with Nigerian financial and transport audit laws.
